The municipality of Zlatníky-Hodkovice lies about 16 km south of the centre of Prague. In 2025, it had approximately 1,415 residents. Zlatníky, first mentioned in 1300, and Hodkovice, first recorded in 1314, make up the municipality.

In the Middle Ages, Zlatníky was a fortified village with a stronghold founded around 1300 by the Velflovici. The Neo-Romanesque Church of St Peter and St Paul, built in 1857, stands on the village green in Zlatníky. Hodkovice lies about 1 km north of Zlatníky and has been part of the municipality since 1999.
